the Breton Spaniel
When it comes to breeding Delle Vallate we talk about history. Suffice it to say that she obtained the affix in 1961 and that since then she has continued to remain faithful to her first loves: the English Setters and the Brittany Spaniels.
In this specific case, they are biased; the beauty of 55 years ago my grandfather bought Mirko, an Epagneul Breton, from this breeding, and marked my childhood as well as the stories that came after. Mirko was a phenomenal dog for my grandfather, a hunter, who brought him from Gorizia on purpose.
On paper (he was the son of champions) he would have been a great dog, in reality he turned out to be so much more. An excellent dog, as well as a family member.
Being able to trace the origins of this dog, and discover that the breeding that had seen him born is not only still in vogue but has preserved the philosophy and professionalism is priceless.
The philosophy that distinguishes the breeding is that a subject must not excel for a single quality, but must possess t all the fundamental qualities hunting to be an appreciable hunting dog. On the basis of this assumption, the founder first, and his children Rosa, Carla and Umberto later, have oriented themselves towards the production of a balanced and concrete dog in action, useful for the game bag.
The acknowledgments and prizes that the breeding has obtained over time are innumerable; between Italian working samples, breeding samples, international working samples, etc. it would almost take an encyclopedia.
We, curious to “poke our noses” in a very particular environment, asked for explanations on a breed: the Breton Spaniel.
